DIRECTORS
Dan Horn brings to RBA 25yrs of coaching experience. After graduating from the University of Nebraska,
Coach Horn instructed from Little League on up to the college level
at Saint Mary’s College
of Maryland. Coach Horn also owned and
operated Field of Dreams baseball academy in Culpeper
Virginia. During the academy’s 5 years of
operation, Coach Horn helped 65 ball players to reach there goal of
playing college baseball.

PROGRAM COACHES
Bob Smith the founder of
the Richmond baseball and Softball Academy’s. Is back from
coaching at George
Washington University. Coach Smith
played at Mississippi State University where his 1979 team won the
SEC Championship the south east region and finished fifth in the
college world series.
Coaching stops at LSU, Tennessee,
Kentucky
and VCU allowed Smith to help develop over 45 players to be drafted with 9 players making it to the major
leagues. The first Richmond
Baseball Academy opened in 1995.
Smith during his 14 years in the academy had over 200 players go on to college and had two players become #1
drafts Matt Moses and Justin Verlander.
In the two years at George Washington University Smith
had 3 players drafted and one voted the best pitcher in the A-10
conference Pat Lehman in 2009.
Development has always
been RBA’s goal for the Richmond player. The more our
players know the better and more prepared our players will be.
