DIRECTORS
Josh Coffey has coached for Richmond Baseball Academy going on 10 years. As a 14 year old, Josh played on
Bob Smith’s Fall Showcase Team.
That same school year, Josh went on to start to start
Varsity at Lee-Davis High School as a Freshman
Catcher. Collecting all-
District and Region in his tenure, in his Senior year he tacked on
all-Metro and State honors along with a State Championship
ring. Though committed to
William & Mary, Josh was taken by the Florida Marlins with
their 18th pick. He spent 2 years in that
organization before joining the Cincinnati Reds for another 2
years. During those 4 years,
Josh worked winter camps before heading back to spring training. Now Josh is entering his 3rd
year as Director here at Richmond Baseball Academy.
Dan Horn brings to RBA 25yrs of coaching
experience. After graduating
from the University of Nebraska, Coach Horn instructed
from Little League on up to the college level at Saint Mary’s College of Maryland. Coach Horn also owned and
operated Field of Dreams baseball academy in Culpeper
Virginia. During the academy’s 5 years of
operation, Coach Horn helped 65 ball players to reach there goal of
playing college baseball.
WINTER PROGRAM COACHES
Richie Prado was a graduate or Varina High School. During his career, he collected
all-District and Region honors until his Senior year where he was
selected 2nd Team all-State batting .511 in that
period. Richie
went onto William & Mary to start 35 games as a Freshman. Richie
ended his career with a .299 batting average. In 2005, he was the Head Coach of
John Rolfe Middle School and is now currently at
Hermitage teaching and coaching with their Junior Varsity Squad.
Ryan Norwood, a former RBA student 9th
round pick of the Cubs will once again join the staff after a
banner season in Peoria. Ryan played in 134 games hitting
.307 in 505 at-bats, 62 runs, 155 hits, 28 doubles and 15 Home Runs
paving his way to becoming a 2006 Single-A All-Star.
